Understanding SOPA:
The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) is a prominent industry association dedicated to promoting the interests of soybean farmers, processors, and exporters in India. SOPA plays a vital role in advancing sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing the growth of the soybean sector. By collaborating with SOPA, we (Farmonaut) aimed to utilize their extensive network and expertise to conduct an accurate and comprehensive crop yield estimation for soybean.
Scope
The project undertaken by us encompassed crop yield estimation for soybean in approximately 50 districts spanning Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. These regions were specifically chosen due to their significance in soybean cultivation and their contribution to India’s overall soybean production. The project aimed to gather robust data, analyze it using advanced technologies, and provide actionable insights to improve the efficiency and productivity of soybean farming.
Methodology
We used remote sensing, satellite imagery analysis, and machine learning algorithms to achieve accurate crop yield estimation. High-resolution satellite imagery and advanced analytics provided vital information on crop health, vegetation indices, and growth patterns. Ground-level observations were correlated with the data to validate findings. Employing sophisticated machine learning models enabled precise crop yield estimates for each district, offering valuable insights into soybean cultivation.
