Farmonaut’s Satellite Based Crop Estimations Validate Egypt’s Wheat Cultivation Expansion: Just a few days ago, we had the privilege of visiting #Egypt as an invitee from our esteemed Egyptian corporate client to present our #CropAreaEstimation findings for #wheat to the Ministry of Agriculture delegates. The ground reports for this year estimated the wheat cultivation area at 3.3 Million feddans, mirroring last year’s statistics. However, our data-driven study, leveraging Farmonaut®’s advanced satellite systems, projected a higher cultivation area of around 3.8-3.9 million feddans.

Witnessing Egypt’s tremendous efforts in transforming substantial tracts of land into farmland, backed by our satellite data capturing the year-over-year changes, it seemed unlikely that the wheat area would remain the same.

The estimation results provided from our end seemed doubtful initially. However, post our meeting with the Ministry, subsequent statements from significant figures within the government gave more credence to our research.

Reda Mohamed Ali, Head of the #NationalWheatProject, announced an increase in wheat cultivation land to 3.65 million feddans, producing an expected 10 million tons of wheat 🌾. Corroborating this, Hussein Abu Saddam, the head of the General Syndicate of Peasants, declared that the 2023 wheat harvest is the largest yet, expecting a yield of over 10 million tons from 3.65 million acres of wheat.

These affirmations aligned closely with our estimations, demonstrating a mere 4-6% deviation from official data. This convergence marks a significant victory for our team at #Farmonaut 🎉.
